Rockets Outslug Tigers

Rockridge and Sherrard were involved in a slugfest to open the high school softball season Wednesday night.  The Tigers scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first but only one more after that as the Rockets keep pounding away for a 22-12 win in six innings.  Kendra Lewis took over in the second and got the win.  She also had five hits, including a home run and seven rbi to lead Rockridge.  Geneseo blanked Riverdale 10-0 in other action.

The Sherrard Tiger baseball team opened play hosting Alleman.  The Tigers were held to four hits at the Pioneers won 6-1.  Fulton beat Milledgeville 11-7 in other action.

In volleyball, Rock Island beat Orion 25-23, 25-23 and Alleman topped Ridgewood 25-19, 27-29, 30-28.

The junior high basketball season wrapped up with Orion beating Mercer County 23-10 in 7th grade play and Orion winning 26-10 in the 8th grade game.
