A Sherrard woman convicted of 11 felony animal cruelty counts earlier this year was sentenced Thursday in Mercer County Circuit Court. 61-year-old Karen Plambeck was found guilty during a bench trial last March. Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson spoke with WRMJ about the disposition of the case.
Plambeck was charged following an August of 2022 investigation where 198 dogs were rescued from her property. All 198 dogs were forfeited to the care of Mercer County Animal Control.
She was immediately remanded to the Mercer County Jail after Thursday’s sentencing hearing.
