Plambeck Attorney Withdraws, Sentencing Delayed

The sentencing hearing for a Sherrard woman found guilty of 11 felony animal cruelty counts will be delayed. 60-year-old Karen Plambeck’s attorney filed a motion to withdraw, which was granted last Friday in Mercer County Circuit Court.

Plambeck has 30 days to retain new counsel. A status hearing is set for July 8. She was found guilty during a bench trial last March.

Plambeck was charged following an August of 2022 investigation where 198 dogs were rescued from her property.

All 198 dogs were forfeited to the care of Mercer County Animal Control. Over $170,000 worth of veterinary and boarding costs were introduced as evidence in a court hearing in September of 2022.
