A quiet Fourth of July holiday in the Mercer County area with a number of COVID-19 cancellations. Matherville fireworks, originally scheduled for this Friday, were canceled last month says spokesperson Brianna Adams.
Also, the Dr. Ford Frog Races and Mercer County Community Band concert, scheduled for July 4th at Aledo Central Park, have been canceled. It marks the first time the frog races have been canceled since the event’s inception in 1993.
Aledo is hoping to have a fireworks display during Antique Days on August 29th.
