The case against two men arrested after police say they seized more than 13 pounds of drugs from an Aledo house last July continues to move forward.
23-year-old Preston Huston of Aledo and 23-year-old Dequan Huntley of Chicago appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Tuesday for pretrial conferences, where both had motion to suppress hearings scheduled. Huston’s will be on June 1, while Huntley’s is scheduled for May 18.
A motion to suppress hearing is a pretrial proceeding where a judge determines if evidence should be excluded from trial.
Huston and Huntley were arrested last July following an investigation by the Aledo Police Department and Quad Cities Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG). A press release from the Aledo Police Department said that 119 grams of MDMA testing positive for methamphetamine, 4,697 grams of marijuana, 1,506 grams of THC wax, 63 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, and digital scales were found and seized from the property.
Huston is charged with a Class X felony of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, Class 1 felony of possession with intent to deliver 2,000-5,000 grams of cannabis.
Huntley is charged with a Class X felony of possession with intent to deliver 15-100 grams of cocaine and a Class 2 felony of possession with intent to deliver 500-1,000 grams of cannabis.
Both were granted pretrial release with conditions, including GPS monitoring.
