A Sherrard woman found guilty of 11 felony animal cruelty counts earlier this year will be sentenced next week. The sentencing hearing is Monday for 60-year-old Karen Plambeck.
Four days of testimony were heard during the bench trial last March, and Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson spoke with WRMJ following the verdict.
Plambeck was charged following an August of 2022 investigation where 198 dogs were rescued from her property.
All 198 dogs were forfeited to the care of Mercer County Animal Control. Over $170,000 worth of veterinary and boarding costs were introduced as evidence in a court hearing in September of 2022.
Plambeck’s attorney filed a motion to reconsider this week, which was denied.
