Just a day after a Mercer County Board member calls methamphetamine a “crisis” in Mercer County, another meth arrest is made. The latest occurred Wednesday when Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies spoke with subjects parked in a vehicle at the Mercer County Sheriff’s office. The Mercer County K-9 unit was alerted to an odor of narcotics coming from the car. The driver—Jakobe C. Benson of Rock Island was arrested for possession of meth. The other passengers in the vehicle were released with no charges. Benson is being held in the Mercer County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
