Mercer County (6-3) scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk off Alleman (3-9) in softball Wednesday, 2-1.
The Pioneers opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning. Mercer County tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Peyton Knapp came through with the game-winning single for the Golden Eagles in the eighth inning.
Hallie Schreurs (2-0) earned the win in the pitchers circle for Mercer County. She allowed one run in eight innings on four hits. She struck out nine batters in the victory.
