Mercer County’s New State Senator Votes No On Police Reform Bill

Mercer County is now represented by a new State Senator. His name is Win Stoller. He was shocked when at past 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, on the final day of the lame duck session of the Illinois Legislature, he received a nearly 800 page, rewritten, renamed and resubmitted Police Reform Bill.

The bill was opposed by the Illinois Sheriff’s Association and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. It passed both the State Senate and Illinois House and now heads to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s desk. Stoller was filling out former State Senator Chuck Weaver’s term during the lame duck session. He was elected to office in November and will be sworn-in to the new Illinois General Assembly on Wednesday following the lame duck session.
