Mercer County hunters harvest 532 deer during the first firearm season Nov. 20-22. That is 11 more than last year’s total. Other area numbers from the first weekend included 307 deer in Henderson County, 290 in Henry, 682 in Knox, 461 in Rock Island, and 292 deer in Warren County.
Statewide, the total deer harvest from the first weekend was 47,147, just over 3,000 less than last year’s number, according to data released by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The second and final weekend of firearm deer hunting in Illinois is Dec. 3-6.
