Mercer County hunters take in 548 deer during the first firearm weekend Nov. 19-21. That figure is up 16 from last year’s total.
The rest of the first weekend numbers—269 in Henderson; 280 in Henry; 738 in Knox; 417 in Rock Island; and 295 in Warren County.
Statewide, hunters harvested 50,300 deer during the first weekend compared to 47,147 last year.
The second and final weekend of firearm deer season is this Thursday through Sunday.
