A good connection between the Mercer County School District and Western Illinois University. An expanding ag program will lead to two new hires in the fall following the retirement of long time ag teacher Mike Chausse. Dr. Andrew Baker is the Director of Ag Education at WIU.
Brandon Livingston is from Marietta, IL and Hannah Libby is from nearby Oneida. Livingston finished his time at WIU student teaching at Eastland High School in Lanark, IL, while Libby was a student teacher in the Mercer County School District. While waiting for the contracts to begin in the fall, the two will serve as substitute teachers in the Mercer County School District.
