The Mercer County boys 8th grade basketball team won the Class 3-A IESA Sectional at Rockridge Wednesday night in overtime beating Farmington 28-24. The Golden Eagles remain undefeated at 22-0 and will play Teutopolis in the state quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Tolono.
In Lincoln Trail girls basketball, Mercer County was outscored 30-12 in the second half and lost to Ananwan 54-34. United downed Rowva-Williamsfield 57-40, Ridgewood held off West Central 47-46, and Princeville slipped by Wethersfield 55-52.
