Martha J. King, 78 of Aledo died Friday, June 9, 2023 at her home at Brookstone of Aledo. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 15, at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Friday, June 16, at Dennison Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hamlet Cemetery. Memorials may be left for the family.
Martha was born August 25, 1944 in Muscatine, Iowa, a daughter of Ernest and Pearl Adams Sheese. She graduated from Westmer High School. On January 24, 1965,she married Aubrey L. King in Aledo. They were married until he passed on May 2, 2019. Martha was a homemaker and cleaned many homes. After retiring from cleaning, she took excellent care of Aubrey during his battle with lung cancer. She was a member of several community card clubs and was a member of Joy United Methodist Church for many years. She especially enjoyed attending the church’s annual breakfast to cook the ham. Martha loved to play BINGO, bowl, and play cards. Every Sunday night for many years they played cards with dear friends Johnny and Lois Wagner. Her greatest joy was time spent with family, especially Aaron and Allison. Martha was truly blessed with so many family and friends but especially her best friend since first grade Linda Norton Long and best friend at Brookstone Joyce Whitehall. She loved all the staff and friends she made at Brookstone. Brookstone was wonderful to her…she truly loved living there.
Survivors include her daughters: Donna Frye and Debbie (Paul) Giles; grandchildren: Aaron (Rachel) Frye and Allison Frye; and sister: Diana (Denny) Fullerton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings: Carolyn Sheese, Carter Sheese, Wanda McCleary, Ernestine King, Bernice Efnor, and Rose Seefeld; and one grandchild.
