Kendra Lewis extended her scoreless streak to start the postseason to 19 innings in a complete game shutout Wednesday, as Rockridge (29-3-1) beat IVC (19-15), 5-0, in the semifinals of the IHSA 2A Peoria Notre Dame Sectional.
Lewis (20-3) struck out 12 batters and allowed four hits, all of them singles, in seven innings. She went 1-3 at the plate with an RBI.
Rockridge scored two runs in both the first and second innings to take a 4-0 lead early. Taylor Dieterich made it a 5-0 game with a solo home run, her 11th of the season, in the bottom of the fourth. Dieterich finished 2-3 with an RBI. Charley Perkins, Morgan Hofer, Emma Kramer, and Kaycee Price also had multiple hits in the win.
The Rockets have won 25 postseason games in a row. Rockridge will go for its eighth consecutive sectional championship Friday in Peoria against Riverdale (20-14). The Rams beat St. Bede (21-6-1), 2-0, Wednesday.
