Mike Jones will take over the Mercer County boys basketball program. He was hired on a unanimous vote by the Unit 404 Board of Education tonight. Jones is a 2001 Sherrard High School grad and served as Brian Hutton’s assistant at Mercer County two seasons ago. Jones also spent time as an assistant at Sherrard. He is the third varsity head coach at Mercer County that graduated from Sherrard–joining baseball coach Nick Basala and football coach/athletic director Andrew Hofer.
