Brandon Hofmann has been named Mercer County High School varsity girls basketball coach. The school district officially hired him at its board of education meeting Wednesday.
Hofmann spent the last two years as an assistant boys basketball coach for the Golden Eagles. He was the varsity girls basketball coach at AlWood High School for three seasons from 2005-08.
He replaces Kate Engwall, who resigned in March after nine seasons leading the Mercer County girls basketball program. She went 128-126 from 2015-24.
The Golden Eagles finished this past season 14-14.
Hofmann is graduate of Aledo High School.
