Hammond Bill Strengthening Assisted Living & Shared Housing Act Signed Into Law

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker recently signed legislation sponsored bylocal State Rep. Norine Hammond (R-Macomb), which modernizes and strengthens the Assisted Living and Shared Housing Act to improve resident safety, elevate professional standards, and enhance regulatory clarity across Illinois.

House Bill 3392 ensures that residents in assisted living and shared housing establishments will continue to receive high-quality care, with regulations that adapt to meet the changing needs of those who receive care in these settings.

As care needs increase, regulations must evolve to ensure accurate and timely clinical assessments, clear medication administration standards, rapid incident reporting, and more.

The new law takes effect immediately.

Hammond’s district includes portions of Mercer County.
