Mercer County beat Galva in their season opener in girls basketball 48-33 Tuesday at the ROWVA-Williamsfield / Ridgewood Tournament. The Golden Eagles scored 20 points in the first quarter. Molly Hofmann scored 13 points and Sydney Lamkin added 11.
Rockridge opened the season with a 37-25 loss to Orion in Woodhull Tuesday. The Rockets scored just three points in the first quarter, trailing 10-3 after one.
