The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department has completed the investigation involving a homicide/suicide in Preemption last spring. Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call on May 20th. When officers arrived at the residence, they found two subjects with apparent gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene by Mercer County Corner Greg Larson and later identified as 62 year old Myra Long and 65 year old Richard “Steve” Reams. According to a sheriff’s department press release issued Tuesday afternoon, it is believed based on the evidence collected that Reams shot Long and then turned the gun on himself.
