A longtime Mercer County doctor is retiring later this year. Dr. Dennis Palmer was recruited to Aledo in 1976 by local community organizations and in conjunction with the National Health Service Corps. His last day practicing at Genesis Health Group, Aledo Family Practice, will be June 28.
Palmer received the Rural Physician Lifetime of Service Award from the Illinois Rural Health Association in 2021.
Outside of health care, Palmer played a key role in the Aledo Civic Center Authority and construction of the Mercer County Family YMCA in the early 1990’s.
