Mercer County unleashed a strong running game en route to rolling over Ridgewood 47-6 at Goff-Stahl Field Saturday afternoon. Mercer County’s Wyatt Kellogg broke off touchdown runs of 53, 8 and 68 yards as the Golden Eagles built a 35-6 half time lead. Quinton King returned the opening kick off 75 yards for a touchdown as they Eagles never looked back. The win evened their record at 3-3 and 3-1 in the Lincoln Trail Conference.
In volleyball, Monmouth-Roseville beat the host Orion Chargers 23-22, 21-9 to take the championship. Mercer County went 0-4 and United was 2-2 in tournament play.
Orion-Sherrard also hosted their soccer invitational. Princeton beat Orion-Sherrard 2-0 in the championship match. Orion-Sherrard won on penalty kicks against LaSalle-Peru and defeated Canton 3-0 in pool play.
