Dwayne ‘Ben’ J. Benischek – Services 5/21/22

Dwayne “Ben” J. Benischek, 89 of New Boston, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his home. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation 2 hours prior to services. Military Honors will be provided by the Aledo American Legion. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dwayne Joseph was born on March 5, 1933, in Oxford Junction, Iowa to Lewis and Frances (VanSickle) Benischek. Ben served in the United States Army in Korea. He married Audrey (Tompkins) Hanway in 1991 in Joy, Illinois.

Ben was an over-the-road truck driver and enjoyed when Audrey got her license and started accompanying him on the long trips. He hauled campers for both Jet and Maple Tree for many years also. After retirement, he enjoyed farming with the Ryan Brothers, Stewart Coulter, and Wilbur Frieden. He also worked for Liqui-Gro. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Ben is survived by his wife, Audrey; step-children: Ed Hanway, David Hanway, Paul Hanway, and Norman Hanway, and Randy Louck; special friend, Chris Olson; a sister, Doreen Houston of Monmouth; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
