The ongoing pandemic continues to impact courtrooms and county jails throughout Illinois. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee says the Illinois and U.S. Supreme Court are not allowing jury trials currently, which is resulting in continuances.
The Illinois Supreme Court filed its first emergency order in response to the pandemic back on March 17th. An April 3rd order allowed courts to continue trials until further notice.
