Rising Illinois COVID-19 Numbers Concerning State Officials; They’re Increasing In Mercer County Too

State officials say they are very concerned about the rise in COVID-19 cases in Illinois. They are also on the rise in Mercer County with 14-cases since July 16th and 43 overall.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported nearly 1,600 new cases Wednesday, the highest daily total since early June. Dr. Ngozi Ekike says everyone needs to take the threat seriously and not undo the gains Illinois has already made. That includes wearing a mask and social distancing.

The governor has said if numbers keep increasing, some areas may face restrictions again. The city of Chicago has already cracked down on bars and restaurants and the Metro East area may be next.
