A Mercer County School District IT worker facing charges of illegally accessing students’ medical records will return to court in March.
41-year-old Amberly Norton appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Tuesday for a pretrial conference, where the matter was continued to March 2, which is the same date Andrea Long, her twin sister and co-defendant in the case, will return to court. The delay was attributed to the defense.
Norton, Long, and Mercer County School District Superintendent Tim Farquer were arrested in September, following an Aledo Police Department investigation into a complaint accusing Mercer County School District employees of illegally accessing students’ medical records. Norton and Long are accused of committing the alleged offenses beginning on July 19, 2019.
Long, Norton and Farquer are charged with a Class 3 felony of official misconduct and Class A misdemeanors of unauthorized access to medical records and computer tampering.
Farquer will be in court on Feb. 5.
