Sherrard (26-3, 9-1) wrapped up its conference schedule with a 52-31 win over Mercer County (12-17, 2-8 TRAC West) on the road Tuesday.
The Tigers, who clinched the outright conference championship Friday, started slow and trailed 7-2 at the end of the first quarter. Sherrard went on to outscore Mercer County 50-24 over the final three quarters of the night and held a lead that ballooned to as big as 25 points.
Rylan Carton poured in a game-high 20 points for Sherrard, which gave him 1,000 for his career. Carton has now scored 573 points this season. He’s three points away from breaking Sherrard’s single-season scoring record in boys basketball.
James Blackwell, 15, and Carter Brown, 11, also scored in double figures for the Tigers.
Brady McPeek led the Golden Eagles with 14 points in the loss.
