The high school baseball season opens next month, and Mercer County High School will have a new diamond to play on as spring progresses. Aledo Park District President Tanner Dunn provides an update on the new field at Northside Park.
The first day of baseball practice per the IHSA calendar is Monday, March 3.
The new diamond is located west of the existing big diamond and a portion of the project is being funded by a $30,000 grant from the Looser-Flake Foundation. The dimensions of the new field are 335 feet down the lines and 385 feet to center field.
