Carol J. Begyn-Schaefer, 65 of Aledo, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, at her home. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, with the Recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
Carol was born June 20, 1956, in Rock Island, a daughter of Daniel and Dorothy (Burns) Begyn. She graduated from Rockridge High School and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Taylor Ridge. Carol loved animals, especially horses. Many lives were touched through her passion for horses. Above all, Carol loved her family and spending time with them.
Those left to cherish Carol’s memory include her daughters, Christina (John) Brewer, Viola, and Tiana Best, Taylor Ridge; stepchildren, Virginia (Randy) Doss, Leon (Kim) Schaefer, and Donavon (Shannon) Schaefer; mother, Dorothy Begyn; grandchildren, Andrea and DJ Brewer and Caleb and Tyler Kibling; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Tom) Stigers, Michael (Janet) Begyn, Danny Joe (Nancy) Begyn, Pat (Kathy) Begyn, Clarissa (Chris) Stark, and Chris Begyn; sister-in-law, Sandra Begyn; several nieces and nephews; dear friends, Mike Jackson and Pam Wales; and caregivers, Heather and Tonya.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Begyn, and brother, Dennis Begyn.
