Politico has named Western Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos as a contender for a cabinet position in President-elect Joe Biden’s administration. She has been mentioned as a possibility for the Secretary of Agriculture post. Bustos was just elected to her fifth term in office and serves on the House Agriculture Committee. Knox County farmer John Block served as U.S. Ag Secretary in the Reagan administration. Other names mentioned as contenders for Biden’s Ag Secretary include former U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp from North Dakota and U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge from Ohio.
