Brimfield won the IHSA 1A Boys Golf Regional hosted by Mercer County at Valley View Golf Club in Cambridge Wednesday.
The Indians scored 332, finishing five shots better than both Rockridge (337) and Mercer County (337). The Rockets and Golden Eagles advanced as teams to Monday’s sectional in Rockford, along with Brimfield.
ROWVA-Williamsfield (343) finished fourth, followed by Ridgewood (344), Orion (356), Sherrard (380), United (389), West Central (397), Knoxville (400), Stark County (403), Annawan-Wethersfield (419), Elmwood (421), and Galva (445).
Ridgewood’s Brendan Bolduc took first place individually with a score of 76. He beat Mercer County’s Carson Boelens, who finished second, by one shot.
Sherrard’s Jacob Fratzke fired an 80 to take fifth place and advance to the sectional as an individual. Other local players that advanced were Abingdon-Avon’s Alex Foutch; ROWVA-Williamsfield’s Preston Lafary, Landon Hannam, and Mason Sornberger; Ridgewood’s Jack Gibson; Orion’s Kaleb Sovey; West Central’s Ethan Nichols; and United’s Aiden Martin.
