Sherrard (1-0) used a big fourth quarter to beat Geneseo (0-1) 62-48 on the road in the girls basketball season opener for both teams on Tuesday.
The Maple Leafs opened the fourth quarter on a 4-0 run to turn a 38-37 deficit into a 41-38 lead. After falling behind, the Tigers outscored Geneseo 24-7 the rest of the night to put the game away.
Adalynn Elsbury scored a game-high 20 points for Sherrard in the win. Grace Bohnert added 12 and Ellie Swanson netted 11.
Bella Brown led Geneseo in scoring with 13.
