A July 28 jury trial has been scheduled for a Mercer County School Board member charged with a Class 3 felony of aggravated battery in a public place and Class A misdemeanor of battery. The date was set Monday morning in Mercer County Circuit Court during an appearance for 53-year-old Talbert Balmer.
He was charged in January of 2024 following an incident at the Aledo Happy Joe’s.
According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release at the time, “the Mercer County Jail received Balmer from the Aledo Police Department” and he was “booked on the charge of simple battery.”
He was released with a notice to appear.
Balmer remains on the Mercer County School Board.
