Work by late Aledo artist Gertrude Abercrombie generates another big return at an art auction. A painting called Owl Trainer No. 2 brought $825,000 at an auction last week at Rago, a leading New Jersey art auction house. Just last November, another Abercrombie piece called Silo at Aledo brought $864,000 at auction.
Chicago filmmaker Christina Shaver is producing a documentary on Abercrombie and spoke with WRMJ last spring about the project.
Abercrombie lived in Aledo early in her life. She died in Chicago in 1977.
