A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday night as the City of Aledo weighs whether to continue using Lakeshore Recycling (LRS) for waste collection.
In a press release last week, the City of Aledo’s public relations firm said the public hearing will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Mercer County Junior High band room. Residents are encouraged to share their feedback and experiences with LRS online or in person.
The public hearing comes after months of public complaints over service failures. The City of Aledo says it has received hundreds of phone calls, emails, and verbal complaints from LRS customers about missed pickups and delayed service. In early 2025, the City had to publicly notify residents three times in six weeks about substantial delays in collection services.
Speaking with WRMJ in November, Aledo City Administrator Mike Chausse indicated the issues had persisted.
City officials sent LRS a notice of default in October. The city says it has received more than 100 complaints since October regarding LRS’s service.
