Clara Elizabeth McCreight, 94 of Aledo, formerly of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Mercer Manor Rehabilitation in Aledo. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., on Monday, September 28, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Her final resting place will be at the Hamlet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to the Hamlet Cemetery Association. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.
Clara was born on May 30, 1932, in Seaton, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Danielson Scott. She graduated from New Windsor High School with the Class of 1950. Soon after, she married Warren Lee McCleary on June 10, 1950, in New Windsor. Warren passed away on December 27, 1988. Clara later married J. Larry McCreight on February 20, 1993, in Aledo. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2021.
Clara was a proud mother and homemaker. She farmed for many years with her husband Warren in the Hamlet area. She was a member of the Hamlet Presbyterian Church and later the Aledo United Methodist Church where she would enjoy being active with various church functions over the years. She also enjoyed being active with her children’s activities, including 4-H and being a den mother for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Clara especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they made her life special. Clara also was a member of the local chapter of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed volunteering at the Aledo Flower Shop. She was an avid football fan; her favorite team was the Kansas City Chiefs.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sue (Wayne) Larson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Patti (Jeff) Baldwin and Doug (Babbi) McCleary all of Aledo; grandchildren, Kelly (Jason), Mike (Deanna), Mark (Stephanie), Todd, Lindsi, and Matthew (Monica); 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Betty Needham of La Mesa, California; Larry’s children, Bryan McCreight of Sarasota, Florida, Butch (Kim) McCreight of Milan, and Bruce (Lori) McCreight of Brimfield; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Brittney (Chris), Tyson, Marcus, Shannon (Cedric), Grant (Tatyana), and Morgan (Brent); and several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Scott; husband, Warren McCleary; husband, J. Larry McCreight; and six siblings, Frank Scott Jr., Vern Scott, Lola Engle, Norma Brooks, Jack Scott, and Janie Lutz.
