Joyce M. Mizner, 89 of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Aledo, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by her family at home. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12p.m., Thursday, June 25, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aledo. The funeral service will directly follow at 12 p.m. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Messiah Lutheran Church, Edwards River Public Library, or Milestone Area Agency on Aging in Davenport. Joyce was born May 7, 1937, in Aledo, to Frank and Geneveive Anderson Kling. She graduated from Aledo High School and later married Alvin L. “Bricky” Mizner on January 17, 1959, in Aledo. They celebrated 26 years of marriage before his death on January 14, 1986.
Joyce was employed in the social services field for many years. She especially loved doing private duty home health care and volunteered at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, when visiting her daughter.
Joyce was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. For many years, Joyce was a Girl Scout leader in Aledo and was especially proud of her missionary trip to Haiti. She dedicated her life to family, friends, and church.
Those left to cherish Joyce’s memory include two daughters, Jo (Mark) Friese of Aledo and Dawn (Dan Wallace) Garrow of Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Michael, Chris (Stephanie), Justin (Lindsay), Chelsea, Saoirse, Brady, and Tasha; six great grandchildren, Aleajah, Skylyn, Landon, Nicholas, Presleigh, and Zoey; one great-great grandson, Wesley; one brother, David Kling of Shertz, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and one very special long-term caregiver, Mary Beth Connard.
Her parents; husband, Bricky; and one brother, Walter, preceded her in death.
