A Sherrard High School junior won a welding competition last week.
Maxx Starcevich took first place at the 8th Annual Black Hawk College Welding Invitational at the college’s Welding and Skilled Trades Center in Kewanee. He received a $1,000 scholarship from the Black Hawk College East Foundation that he can use to attend Black Hawk College full-time as a freshman in the welding program.
For the fifth consecutive year, Sherrard High School won the team competition.
A total of 49 students from seven high schools participated.
