Mercer County won its first game at its new varsity baseball diamond at Northside Park with a 4-2 victory over Amboy on Saturday.
After allowing a run in the top of the first inning, the Golden Eagles (1-4) scored four unanswered runs to lead for the remainder of the afternoon.
Nathan Matlick was the winning pitcher for Mercer County. He allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in seven innings. He struck out seven batters in the win.
