A Joy man charged with resisting arrest and aggravated battery to a peace officer has been released from police custody.
According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release, 21-year-old Devin Purdy was arrested while deputies were executing an arrest warrant on him for multiple warrants out of nearby counties.
Purdy is charged with two Class 2 felonies of battery to a peace officer, two Class A misdemeanors of obstruction of a peace officer, and a Class A misdemeanor of resisting arrest.
Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson filed a petition to deny Purdy’s pretrial release, which was denied by a judge last week.
