3 Aledo City Council Members Speak In Support Of Terminating LRS Contract

Three Aledo city council members spoke in support of terminating the city’s contract with Lakeshore Recycling (LRS) for waste collection services on Thursday.

The City of Aledo held a public hearing on Thursday, where City Administrator Mike Chausse reported that the city has received 611 complaints from residents about LRS’s service since January 2024. Chausse went on to say the city has received 149 complaints since it served LRS with a notice of default in October 2025.

Residents who spoke at the hearing reported their trash and recycling being missed, trash being spilled while LRS employees were trying to collect it, and garbage and recycling cans being knocked over.

Ald. Mario Pauley (3rd) read a prepared statement at the hearing, saying he was in support of terminating LRS’s contract.

Ald. Jason Snyder (4th) and Andrew Weeks (1st) also spoke in favor of terminating the city’s contract with LRS, which runs through 2028.

Aledo Mayor Chris Hagloch told WRMJ the city would need to secure a new waste collection service to move forward with termination.

When asked if he believed LRS’s contract would be terminated, Hagloch deferred to the city’s attorneys.

LRS was represented by Manager of Municipal Services Joe Swan at the public hearing. He declined WRMJ’s request for comment.
