An Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate is making a campaign stop in Aledo next weekend ahead of next month’s primary election.
Darren Bailey will be holding a campaign event at Cheers on Main from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21. He also campaigned in Aledo during his unsuccessful 2022 run for governor.
Bailey, a former state senator, won the 2022 Republican nomination for Illinois governor in a landslide before losing to incumbent Democrat JB Pritzker by nearly 13 percentage points in the general election.
James Mendrick, Ted Dabrowski and Rick Heidner are also running for the Republican nomination for Illinois governor.
Pritzker is running unopposed in the Democratic primary.
The primary election is March 17.
