A local non-profit organization is holding its second annual homelessness simulation fundraiser next month to bring attention to people facing rural homelessness.
Mercer County Better Together’s (MCBT) “Night in a Car” challenges people to form teams and spend one night sleeping in their car on Feb. 6 at the Mercer County VFW in Aledo. Each team is encouraged to raise $500 in sponsorship sfor the event.
All proceeds benefit the Mercer County Housing Initiative, which aims to provide emergency housing, transitional housing and affordable housing for Mercer County residents.
MCBT Executive Director Kyle McEwen says it’s an issue that a lot of people don’t realize.
The event takes place from 7 p.m. on Feb. 6 to 7 a.m. on Feb. 7 at the Mercer County VFW.
