The Mercer County School District has named two interim superintendents and placed current superintendent Tim Farquer on paid administrative leave.
At a special school board meeting on Friday afternoon, the district appointed Alan Boucher and Scott Petrie as interim superintendents. Boucher served as superintendent of the Aledo and then the Mercer County School District from 2007 to 2015. Petrie also previously served as Mercer County School District superintendent.
They will fill in for Farquer, who, along with Mercer County School District IT workers Amberly Norton and Andrea Long, was arrested on Wednesday following an investigation by the Aledo Police Department into a complaint accusing Mercer County School District employees of illegally accessing students’ medical records. Farquer, Norton, and Long are each charged with a Class A misdemeanor of unauthorized access to medical records, a Class A misdemeanor of computer tampering, and a Class 3 felony of official misconduct.
While he’s on administrative leave, Farquer will continue to be paid his $171,223 salary.
