A Mercer County High School track and field standout competed at the 2025 AAU Junior Olympics last month.
Alayna Mitchell, a junior, ran in the 400-meter hurdles at the event in Houston, where she finished 31st out of 65 competitors.
Mitchell spoke with WRMJ about the experience.
Mitchell finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles at the IHSA 1A State Track and Field Championships last season.
