A Carroll County woman is running for Congress in Illinois’ 17th District.
Julie Bickelhaupt announced her candidacy as a Republican on Monday.
She and her family run a seventh-generation cattle and grain farm near Mount Carroll.
The 17th District’s seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen (D-Illinois), who is running for re-election. The district includes the eastern portion of Mercer County.
