A groundbreaking ceremony for the Aledo Aquatics Center is next week.
Construction will begin on the project on Wednesday, Aug. 13, says Aledo Mayor Chris Hagloch.
Last month, the City of Aledo approved issuing up to $4 million in General Obligation Bonds for the project. The project’s estimated cost is $6.4 million. The City of Aledo has raised $5.3 million for the project. Those donations are expected to be received over five years and are planned to cover the repayment process.
The City hopes to open the new facility in May 2026.
The Aledo Aquatics Center will be constructed at the former Aledo Farmers Grain & Coal site.
