Sherrard (13-3, 2-2 TRAC West) defeated Mercer County (14-4, 2-3 TRAC West) 11-6 in softball Thursday to complete a two-game sweep of the Golden Eagles this week.
The Tigers opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first. Mercer County responded with two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-1 lead. Sherrard answered with six runs in the second inning to put the game away early, capped off by a Nadia Anderson grand slam. Makenzy Moran also hit two home runs and drove in five runs in the win.
Danni Neppl was the winning pitcher after allowing three runs in two innings to start the game for Sherrard. Savanah Hauger gave up three runs across the final five innings in the pitcher’s circle.
Elsie Cook was charged with the loss for Mercer County after surrendering nine runs in three innings.
