Donald J. Hollinrake, 92 of West Union and formerly of Maynard, Iowa, Seaton, Illinois, and Keithsburg, Illinois, died Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Stoney Brook Assisted Living in West Union, Iowa. Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard, Iowa, is assisting the family. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Keithsburg. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed in his name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette, Iowa, or the Alzheimer’s Association. Donald James Hollinrake was born July 21, 1932, in Keithsburg, the son of James Francis and Verna Sara (Breuer) Hollinrake. He graduated from high school in Keithsburg. On December 31, 1960, he was united in marriage to Adelaide Frances Houlihan at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in West Los Angeles, California. Donald and Adelaide farmed in Illinois from 1970 until their retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette. Donald enjoyed, fishing, reading, and traveling and had been to all 50 States.
Donald is survived by his five children, Teresa (Tim) Carrigan of Merlin, Oregon, Mary Clark of Victoria, Illinois, Timothy (Jami) Hollinrake of Fayette, Patricia (Rob) Loder of Irving, Texas, and David (Keri) Hollinrake of Raleigh, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Danielle (Jason), Jenni (Dustin), Chase, James (Erin), Anjay (Kodey), Jason, Andrew, Collin, Allison (Spencer), and Scott; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, JoAnn Cummings of Monmouth, Illinois, and Kathleen Schweitzer of New Port Richey, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelaide on November 11, 2020; parents; brother, Gerald; son-in-law, John Clark; and three brothers-in-law, Roger Cummings, Ronald Schweitzer, and Michael Houlihan.
