Orion Pulls Off Road Upset Of Sherrard

Orion (19-5, 5-2 TRAC West) handed 2A’s No. 6 ranked Sherrard (19-3, 6-1 TRAC West) its first home loss of the season with a 58-54 victory at Harry Hunt Gymnasium Friday.

The Chargers led for most of the game after Rylan Carton, Sherrard’s leading scorer picked up three fouls in the first quarter. Orion was up 14-8 at the end of the first and 29-21 at halftime. The Chargers extended the advantage to 34-21 midway through the third quarter and led 45-38 heading into the fourth. Sherrard opened the fourth on an 8-0 run to take a 46-45 lead. Orion’s Kyler Owenes responded with back-to-back baskets to put the Chargers ahead for good.

Owens led Orion with 23 points. Maddux Arnold added 11 in the win.

Carter Brown paced Sherrard with 16 points. Rylan Carton, 11, and James Blackwell, 10, were also in double figures in the loss.
